The departure of West Virginia has left the BIG EAST with 15 teams for the time being, resulting in some changes to the conference portion of the 2012-13 Marquette basketball schedule. It was determined that for the upcoming season, each team will play four home-and-homes, and will face the remaining 10 teams just once. For the Golden Eagles, this means two games against Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, and South Florida, while Connecticut, DePaul, Notre Dame, Providence, and Syracuse will make stops in Milwaukee to fulfill Marquette’s single-game home slate.

In addition to the always challenging roster of BIG EAST opponents, Marquette has also confirmed non-conference contests versus Florida and Ohio State, the latter of which will be held on the deck of the World War II-era aircraft carrier, Yorktown, in Charleston, S.C. The event, held on Nov. 9 in conjunction with Veterans’ Day, will mark the official start of college basketball season. The day also will feature naval carrier matchups involving the likes of Florida and Georgetown and Syracuse and San Diego State, competing at their own unique locations.
