In what was surely one of the biggest wins of the year for North Carolina State, and the program in general, the host Wolfpack knocked off the undefeated and newly crowned No. 1, Duke Blue Devils, in a thrilling 84-76 victory on Jan. 12. The upset helped keep NC State atop the ACC standings and brought the team back into the top 15 of the AP poll. After starting off the year at No. 6 in the preseason rankings, the Wolfpack saw their stock fall after tough losses to ranked opponents, Oklahoma State and Michigan, but the defeat of Duke was just the surge needed to get the squad back on track.
