The Mississippi Running Rebels is the mens basketball team that competes in the twelve-member Southeastern Conference (West Division) of the NCAA's Division I. The teams colors are navy blue and cardinal red. These colors were purposely chosen in order to mirror the school colors of Yale and Harvard, respectively. Since 1979 the teams mascot was Colonel Reb. However in 2003 administration eliminated the mascot. A special contest took place that was aimed at inviting fans to design a replacement. more
