The Penn State Nittany Lions are the sports teams which represent Pennsylvania State University. Womens sports teams are called the Lady Lions. The major school colors are white and navy blue. The universitys mascot is the Nittany Lion. The mascot was created in 1907 when the universitys senior Joe Mason, after having visited Princeton University, found out that all universities, except for Pennsylvania, had the mascots. So he decided to create one. Once the lions were roaming near the school but were eliminated because of the danger. So Mason chose this animal to be the mascot.
