Having more than proved himself by leading a depleted Vols squad to 19-15 overall and 10-6 in the SEC during his first season, Head Coach Cuonzo Martin has finally signed a four-year contract to remain at the helm. After working over 15 months under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding, Martin signed a $1.3 million annual contract that keeps him in Knoxville through the 2015-16 season. The Vols were picked to finish 11th in the SEC and had to battle the remains of an NCAA scandal, but Martin was able to not only keep the program afloat, but allow it to flourish. He’s cultivating a marvelous structure, so get your 2012-13 Tennessee Vols tickets now and support the team as they continue to rise in the SEC.
One of the first-year highlights was the midseason addition of five-star recruit Jarnell Stokes, who, after his assistance in the gold medal-winning performance for the USA Men’s U-23 team, is coming in this season with the utmost confidence and a polished game. So far, fans can look forward to an exciting non-conference schedule with home games against Xavier, Memphis, and Wichita State, road games at Georgetown and Virginia, and three games in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
