2012 Huskies Will Be Well Traveled

The beginning of the UConn basketball season will be one filled with exciting games that will take the young squad all over the world. The Huskies will open the 2012 campaign on November 9th by heading across the Atlantic and taking on the Michigan St. Spartans at Ramstein Air Base in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Then, on November 16th, the Huskies will head down to the Sports and Fitness Center on the island of St. Thomas to participate in the 2012 Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, where they’ll play as the 2-seed against the 7-seed Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Coach Calhoun and the rest of Husky Nation expect a great year from the squad, who will be returning great players like the excellent scoring guard Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright, whose elite quickness, leaping ability, finishing skills can help carry the team. And once again, Coach Calhoun has brought in high-quality fresh blood in the 38th ranked guard Omar Calhoun.  In no relation to Coach Calhoun, Omar is known as a high-volume scorer with an improving shot who is comfortable carrying a team. This bodes well for UConn’s future, and by the looks of this highlight video, Calhoun will be giving fans at plenty to cheer about this year:
