With the loss of standout players Terrence Ross and Tony Wroten, Jr. to the NBA Draft, this year’s Huskies know they will need to band together as well as possible to ensure that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. But if they do, Huskies fans can expect big things from a squad who will be returning solid players like Abdul Gaddy, Scott Suggs, Aziz N’Diaye, and C.J. Wilcox. Most people expect Wilcox to be the go-to leader, and they will be able to witness some less familiar faces who should make solid contributions and make life in Washington easier for everyone, so get your 2012 Washington Huskies tickets and see the show in person.
Former redshirt Andrew Andrews should step in nicely to fill Wroten’s open spot, and Mark McLaughlin comes in with an incredible ceiling. As a transfer from Tacoma Community College, McLaughlin led the nation by averaging 27.5 points per game. Standing at 6’6”, 200 lbs., he has been recognized as a D-1 talent and should make an immediate impact on the wing. Preseason polls have the Huskies sitting near the top third in the Pac-12 rankings, just behind UCLA, Arizona, and Stanford. But you can be sure that Coach Lorenzo Romar will use that as motivation to get his squad playing at their peak and making a run for at the NCAA Tournament.
