Huskies College Basketball Information

The UW sports teams are commonly known as the Huskies. The teams colors are gold and purple. They were chosen by the students in 1892. The history of choosing these colors is connected with the Lord Byron's poem The Destruction of Sennacherib. The current mascot is Harry the Husky. It is commonly used at the UW sports events. There is also a live mascot Alaskan Malamute, named Spirit (it encourages football team). The husky mascot appeared in 1922. The Huskies also set the NCAA record, when they scored the 800th winning game in their current home arena.
