Arizona State Devils Background Ticket Information
The Arizona State Devils come from Arizona State University. They are nine mens and eleven womens teams participating in the NCAA Pacific 10 Conference. Mens teams take part in basketball, baseball, football, cross-country, golf competitions. Womens teams mainly compete in gymnastics, soccer, basketball and many more.
The teams mascot is Sparky, a character that was designed by Bert Anthony, one of the Disney illustrators. The Arizona State Devils nickname was adopted only in 1946. The author of one university article once proposed to call the team sun devils. The students liked and adopted the idea. Before, they had some other names like the Owls, the Normals and the Bulldogs. There is a special fight song, which cheers up the athletes at any sport event, it is called Maroon and Gold (those are the school colors).
