In a unique announcement that was delivered via Twitter, the Arizona Wildcats football program has tapped former West Virginia and Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez as the man to lead them into the 2012 campaign. Rodriguez is coming on to replace interim coach Tim Kish, who stepped in place after Mike Stoops was fired after struggling to a 1-5 start last season. Rodriguez spent the past year as a CBS Sports Network analyst, previously coaching Michigan (2008-2010) and West Virginia (2001-2007), where he posted a 60-26 record and finished first in the Big East four times.
Wildcat fans around the country are excited about the hire, which will be a 180-degree shift from coach Stoops, who was a defensive specialist with no previous head coaching experience.
