Boyd Primed to Lead Tigers to BCS National Championship

The Clemson Tigers are riding a wave of positive momentum after finishing 2012 with an 11-2 record and capping things off with a 25-24 victory over the LSU Tigers in the Chick-fil-A-Bowl. Now, they’ve got their sights set on winning the ACC and competing for the BCS National Championship. Behind the arm and legs of junior QB and ACC Player of the Year, Tajh Boyd, who threw for 3,896 yards and 36 touchdowns and ran for 514 yards and 10 touchdowns, Clemson put up a monstrous 41 points per game. In 2013, with impressive players like WR Sammy Watkins, WR Charone Peake, and RB Roderick McDowell in the mix, there’s no reason that Boyd and Co. can’t stand as one of the most potent offenses in the nation once again. Head coach Dabo Swinney will ensure that the team retains its edge, and with seven starters returning to a defensive unit that held LSU to just 219 yards in the bowl showdown, Clemson could emerge as the No. 1 team in the country.

Death Valley will certainly be roaring when Clemson launches the season on Aug. 31, as the Tigers will look to feed off highly charged fans inside Clemson Memorial Stadium when the Georgia Bulldogs make their way to town. The 2013 Clemson football schedule has the Tigers’ hunt to play in the ACC Championship beginning with the Textile Bowl against the N.C. State Wolfpack on Sept. 19. Fans that purchase Clemson football tickets can witness key ACC matchups throughout the season, as the Tigers will take on the Boston College Eagles for the O’Rourke-McFadden Trophy on Oct. 12, and then suit up for other intense rivalry games against the Florida State Seminoles (Oct. 19), Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (Nov. 14), and The Battle of the Palmetto State against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Nov. 30.
