The Florida Atlantic Owls are a very young team. The Owl’s began to play football in 2001. In the beginning, the team was part of the NCAA Division I-AA in an Independent Conference. However, the team moved to the Division I-A. The Florida Atlantic Owl’s also joined the Sunbelt Conference. Though not in the Division I-A yet, in 2001, the team ended their season with a 4-6 record. In 2002, the teams worst season, the Owl’s finished with only two wins and nine losses. In 2003, the Owls achieved great success and had a season record of 10-3. Ending the 2004 season, the Owl’s finished with a successul 9-3 record. In 2005, the Owl’s suffered a bad season, ending with the same record as they did in 2002. In 2006 the Owls played in the Sun Belt Conference and ended with a 5-7 record. The Owl’s ranked 90th out of 119 teams. The 2007 season proved to be very successful. The team finished with an 8-5 record and ranked 64th out of 122 teams. The 2007 season was also successful because this was the first season that the team was able to compete in a bowl game. Florida Atlantic Owls coach Howard Schnellenberger is ready for another successful season. Show your Owls spirit and cheer them on to another successful season!
