Immensely respected as a motivator and a intrepid big-game coach, Rhoads has been with Iowa State for three years, amassing a 18-19 record. Only the second coach to lead the Clones to a bowl game since 1978, he’s done it twice in five years. Also, he guided them to the biggest victory in school history, having upset #2 Oklahoma State 37-31 on Nov. 18, in the program’s first ever win over a top five team.
The Cyclone's season came to a close with last year with a 6–7 overall record, 3–6 in Big 12 play, but coach Rhoads is sure to have them inspired for more outstanding victories. Iowa State will open the season Sept. 1st hosting Tulsa, and start conference play at Jack Trice Stadium vs. Texas Tech on Sept. 29th.
