The Kentucky Wildcats is an official name for the men's and women's sports teams of the University of Kentucky, which is an active member of the Southeastern Conference. In the past the women's teams and athletes used to be called Lady Kats, however they changed their name for the Wildcats at the beginning of the 1990s. The teams of the University of Kentucky train in football, men's and women's basketball, softball, baseball, womens volleyball men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming/diving, mens and women's soccer, women's gymnastics, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's golf, and rifle. The men's soccer team participates in Conference USA as long as the Southeastern Conference does not support that kind of sport for men.
