The Miami Red Hawks are alumni of Miami University. The University is situated in Oxford, Ohio.
It opened its doors in 1809. The University got its name after the Miami River valley, located
between the Little Miami River and the Great Miami River. It is one of the oldest public
universities in the United States. Its McGuffey School (the School of Education) is known all over

cross country, football, ice hockey, swimming and diving, and track and field (mens sports); and

synchronized ice skating, track and field, and tennis (womens sports). But the most successful
teams are the Hawks football and hockey players. The Hawks hockey team plays in the Central
Collegiate Hockey Association. It has made great strides and now it successfully represents Miami
University in the NCAA championships.
The Hawks football team has produced a lot of star-players and outstanding coaches, who later
played in the NFL and led the NFL teams. The Red Hawks represent the University in the NCAA Dvision
I-A. Fred C. Yager Stadium is the home stadium of the Hawks footballers. The University of
Cincinnati football team and the Ohio Bobcats are the main Hawks adversaries. The matches with
their participation are known as the 'Battle for the Victory Bell' and the 'Battle of the Bricks'
correspondingly.
The Miami-Cincinnaty rivalry is considerd to be the longest in the history of college sports
rivalries. With 59 victories against 44 losses the Hawks are leading in the rivalry with
