2009 Nebraska Cornhuskers Season InformationIn 2007, the Nebraska Cornhuskers reported their second ever losing season since 1961, the other one being in 2004. The team had reached the Big 12 title game the year before and the hopes were quite high, so Nebraska University did not take the defeat well at all. This performance led to the firing of Bill Callahan by Tom Osbourne, the interim athletic director. Bo Pelini was passed over for the role of head coach for Callahan after having served as interim head coach in 2003. On December 12, 2007, Bo Pelini was hired for the head coach position for the 2009 season.
