Huskers Set to Battle Bulldogs in 2013 Capital One Bowl
After losing to the Wisconsin Badgers in the Big Ten Championship and missing out on the Rose Bowl, the No. 16 Nebraska Cornhuskers have a chance to earn redemption and end the season in style in "Little Bowl with the Big Heart." The Cornhuskers (10-3) head down to Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, Florida for the second straight year to play in the 2013 Capital One Bowl against the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs (11-2) also come into the matchup with a chip on their shoulders after losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game, which dashed their dreams to play for the BCS title. Both squads will look to come out swinging, and quarterback play on both ends should be stellar, as the Huskers' QB Taylor Martinez and Bulldogs' QB Aaron Murray will book fight to capture the momentum of the 70,000-plus inside Citrus Bowl Stadium.
Surprisingly, there’s very little familiarity between these legendary programs, as they have only met once, and that was a Cornhuskers victory way back in the 1969 Sun Bowl. The last time the Bulldogs’ played in this bowl they beat Michigan State in 2009, and this will be their sixth overall appearance. Last year the Huskers fell 30-13 to the South Carolina Gamecocks, so this time around they’re poised to reverse the outcome. They’ll have their chance come Tuesday, January 1st, at 1:00 p.m. ET. You won’t find a better way to enjoy New Year’s Day than purchasing 2013 Capital One Bowl tickets and heading to sunny Orlando for this marquee matchup.
