The Papajohns.com Bowl is a NCAA-certified post-season college football bowl game approved. This bowl was called the Birmingham Bowl, until it found its sponsor Papa John's Pizza. Another sponsors are ESPN Regional Television and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). The first game was held in April 2006. The Papajohns.com Bowl is held at Legion Field, located in Birmingham, Alabama.
The game fields a team from the Conference USA and a team from the Big East or the Mid-American Conference. The Big East and the Mid-American Conference participate in the Papajohns.com Bowl every other year, while the Conference USA will provide a participant for at least four following years (the Conference made an agreement about this). This year the bowl will host a player from the the MAC. In case there is no team eligible to be picked up, they will choose a team from the Big East or an at-large team.
