Though the team graduated plenty of top-end talent this year—including starters at the quarterback and wide receiver positions—some of the most skilled underclassmen will now get a chance to showcase their skills on a national stage. While many of the skill positions will feature new names on the depth chart, the team will boast one of the best and most experienced offensive line units in the country, anchored by returning starter Ja’Wuan James at left tackle. Though Butch Jones comes to Knoxville from the University of Cincinnati—a Big East School—his style of aggressive and attacking defense is a perfect fit for the SEC’s style of play. With a track record of producing conference champions, Jones will hope to make an immediate impact within the program.
If the Volunteers hope to earn a spot in the 2013 SEC Championship, they will first have to conquer the SEC East. The road to Atlanta for the conference title and an automatic berth in a BCS game will be paved with games against divisional opponents, including home contests against reigning East division-champions, Georgia Bulldogs (Oct. 5), and Steve Spurrier’s loaded South Carolina Gamecocks (Oct. 19). Purchase Tennessee Volunteers football tickets from Vivid Seats to be among over 100,000 fans singing “Rocky Top” as the team chases its first national championship since 1999.
