Throughout their history as a team, the Troy State Trojans have been very consistent and successful. In 2001, the team ranked 57th out of 117 teams. Up until 2003, the team remained an Independent Conference. However, 2001 stood as their best season, ending with a 7-4 record, a 4-8 record in 2002, and a 6-6 record in 2003.
In 2004 the Troy State Trojans joined the Sun Belt Conference and ended with a 7-5 record, placing 64th out of 119 teams. Though the Trojans won seven games in both 2001 and 2004, they have yet to top their rank of 57th. In 2005 the team suffered a bad season, winning only four games, and placing 111th out of 119 teams, the worst rank since 2001. However, 2006 and 2007 proved to be turn around seasons for the Trojans. In 2006 the team won eight games and lost five, and in 2007 the team finished with an 8-4 record season. Head coach Larry Blakeney hopes that his team can continue on with the success of the past 2 seasons in 2008. Part of this success will be in the hands of the Trojans new quarterback. The Trojan’s season starts on March 29
