After a spectacular season that saw him smash the school record for rushing yards in a season, Virginia Tech RB David Wilson was named the ACC’s Offensive Player of the Year and the conference’s overall Player of the Year by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Wilson ran for a school-record 1,709 yards in his first year as the starting running back, leading Tech to a Coastal Division title in the ACC. He is the third Hokie to win ACC player of the year honors, joining QBs Bryan Randall (2004) and Tyrod Taylor, who won the same two awards last season.
Wilson, a 5-foot-10, 205-pound junior from Danville, Va., finished the year with an impressive 133 yards per game average with nine touchdowns, and was a second-team Associated Press All-American. The Hokies are known for their RBs, so make sure to secure your 2012 Virginia Tech Hokies tickets to see how redshirt freshman Michael Holmes and true freshmen J.C. Coleman and Drew Harris fare as Wilson’s replacements.
