Each year the Arizona Cardinals make off-season additions that they claim
will get them into the playoffs and each year it seems they fall well short of
their goal. Fans in Arizona think this year will be different. Their biggest
addition in coach Dennis Green may be the x-factor that puts them over the hump
in 2004. No one can doubt Dennis Greens ability to strain every drop of talent
out of his players, as well as his uncanny ability to rejuvenate struggling
offenses as he did while in Minnesota.
Speaking of talent, Green should
have plenty to work with as the Cardinals head into the 2004 season. Developing
second year quarterback Josh McCown is living up to his potential as an athletic
passer, and Greens coaching style is conducive to scrambling quarterbacks with
a strong arm (Randall Cunningham anyone). McCown should have plenty of targets
to throw to in Pro-Bowler Anquan Boldin, Rookie Larry Fitzgerald and second year
receiver Bryant Johnson. All three receivers are big, strong and fast,
pressuring defenses to choose one to double cover while leaving the rest wide
open. Cardinals Fans have plenty to be exited about in 2004. With the additions
of Dennis Green and Larry Fitzgerald, and the promising development of McCown
and Boldin, get your ticket cause this might be their playoff year.
Sun Devil Stadium - Tempe, AZ
Although
the new Cardinals stadium is not yet completed, fans will be able to enjoy the
state of the art facility in 2006. In the meantime McCown and Fitzgerald will be
airing it out in Sun Devil stadium. With a capacity of 74,000, fans wont have a
hard time finding tickets. Fans will have a great view of Tempe Mountains as
they watch the game, especially when the Cardinals decide to heave one long.
