Jacksonville Jaguars News

About the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars had more than they could handle in the summer of 2004. Between practicing in the summer heat, adapting to a second year quarterback, and hitting the weight room, the Jaguars had to deal with camera crews that were filming a Jaguar Summer for the NFL Network. No player is under the microscope more than second year quarterback Byron Leftwich. With a cannon right arm, tremendous leadership skills and a better grasp of Jack Del Rios offense Leftwich should transform into one of the NFLs best passers. Wide receivers Jimmy Smith, Troy Edwards and Reggie Williams will provide plenty of downfield targets for Leftwich to rifle the ball to. Fred Taylor, one of the most talented running backs in the NFL, is poised to make a huge impact for the Jaguars now that he is coming into a new season rested and healthy.

A revamped defense that saw acquisitions of FS Deon Grant, MLB Mike Peterson and tackle Willie Blade should help the Jaguars get the ball back into the hands of Leftwich and co. Saftey Donovin Darius will be laying big hits on ball carriers while mentoring his new teammates while they acclimate to a new team.
