Philadelphia Eagles News

About the Philadelphia Eagles

Each year the city of Philadelphia has the highest of hopes for their perennial division-winning Eagles. For the last three years the Eagles have made it all the way to the NFC Championship game only to lose each time. This year the Eagles are poised to win the NFC Championship game with some HUGE additions on defense and offense. In 2004 the Eagles will be calling TO a lot, but were not talking about time-outs. With the signing of Terrell Owens in the off-season, the Eagles now have a big-play receiver that they have lacked for the past six years. T.O. brings his medley of deep threat ability, red zone scoring, and yards-after-catch ability to a receiver-challenged offense. No one is happier about the T.O. acquisition than quarterback Donovan McNabb. T.O expressed interest in playing for the Eagles because he and McNabb talked privately about what could come of their combined abilities. Either way look for Andy Reids offense to explode in 2004.

The Eagles have had a staunch defense for as long as they have been a franchise. Defense has always been a main focus of Andy Reids team philosophy, a fact proven by the Eagles off-season defensive acquisitions. Needing an improvement on the pass rush they signed one of the best defensive ends in the league, Javon Kearse. Look for the Freak to rush around opposing tackles in pursuit of quarterbacks, making Eagles defensive backs jobs much easier. Aside from the new face in Kearse, the Eagles acquired an old one in Hugh Douglass. Still a powerful pass-rusher and run stopper at 34 years old, Douglass returns to the Eagles after a two year stint in Jacksonville. Defense and offense alike, the Eagles have made the moves that they think will put them over their NFC Championship hump and into the Super Bowl. Either way, ticket holders are sure to get what they paid for.

LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD

While we were sad to see historical Veterans stadium torn down, there was no doubting that it was too old for this new team. Enter Lincoln Financial Field which is the newest stadium in the NFL. Finished in 2003, the Eagles now have a state of the art facility to host their games in. With approx. 70,000 seats, 172 luxury suites and 308 concession stands, fans will have the best experience no matter where they sit. One of the complaints about Veterans stadium was the quality of the playing surface. LF field engineers addressed the problem by adding a state of the art irrigation system under their grass to ensure the Eagles always have the best footing. An improved big screen, more bathrooms and two 40,0000sq ft club lounges round out this outstanding new stadium.
