With an exiting off-season, the Chargers are gunning for the playoffs in
2004, so fans better get their tickets fast. Ladanian Tomlinson is the main
staple of this west coast offense, and was the teams top receiver and running
back in 2003. Tomlinson may be the best running back in the NFL with his
combination of breakaway speed, vision, and explosiveness out of cuts,
durability and pass catching abilities. Phil Rivers, the Chargers #1 draft pick
will see some time behind center while apprenticing under Drew Brees.
On
defense the Chargers are also a force to be reckoned with. Corners Sammy Davis
and Quentin Jammer will ensure that teams wont pass deep on the Chargers while
also creating turnovers to get the ball back into Brees and Tomlinsons hands.
Draft pick Igor Olshansky was a All-American in Oregon and hopes to bring pass
rushing and run stuffing abilities to a defensive unit that struggled to hit the
quarterback or stop the run in 2003. In 2004, the Chargers are looking towards
the playoffs, and behind the arm of Brees and the legs of Tomlinson, that vision
isnt far-fetched.
