The Seattle Seahawks high powered offense will have defenses looking for
cover when the bombs start dropping. With Mike Holmgren at the helm the Seahawks
have continually improved on the way to their best season ever in 2003. Matt
Hasselbeck has emerged as a legitimate top 5 quarterback and a team leader. With
the wide receiver tandem of Darrell Jackson and Koren Robinson, defenses will be
stretched to the limit trying to defend this high-octane offense. When the
defense does soften up their coverage, running back Shaun Alexander will pound
the ball up the gut to keep the defensive backs and linebackers honest.
The biggest improvement for the Seahawks this year is on defense. With
their first round draft selection of Marcuss Tubbs, it will be tougher to run
through the middle against the Seahawks. Add second round pick Michael Boulware,
and linemen Chike Okeafor and Grant Wistrom to the equation and you have a
pretty tough front seven for running backs to penetrate. Emerging second year
corner Marcus Trufant is becoming the shut-down corner that the Seahawks
expected when they drafted him, and should help a secondary that lost standout
Shawn Springs in the off-season
QWEST FIELD
The Seahawks have
signed a new contract with Qwest Communications for rights to their stadiums
name. Qwest Field is an open air stadium with natural grass that seats 67,000
fans. In the heart of Seattle, fans will enjoy a spectacular mountain view from
one side and a skyline view from the other. On the sideline ticket holders will
be 52 feet from the action and a mere 40 feet in the end-zones. A big screen
monitor, plenty of bathrooms and hundreds of concessions ensures fans will be
able to take a quick break and return to their seats in time for the next play.
