Minnesota Wild NHL Update - February 2007

The Minnesota Wild finished the previous in last place in Northwest Division, eight points behind the next team the Vancouver Canucks. They did not qualify for the playoffs. However, along the way Gaborik set new team record for the number of goals (37) and Brian Rolston set new highest point total by a Minnesota Wild (79).

During the 2006-2007 offseason, the franchise signed several veteran free agents, including Mark Parrish, Kim Johnsson, and Keith Carney. On the day of the National Hockey League Entry Draft, Minnesota traded the 17th overall pick Patrick O'Sullivan to Los Angeles in exchange for veteran Pavol Demitra. The new season looked promising with Manny Fernandez, who is known by his solid hockey. However, an injury to winger Marian Gaborik weakened the offense. Gaborik returned in January 2007 and has already scored five goals in his first five games back from his recent injury.
