Philadelphia Flyers Feb 07 Midseason Update

The team’s 40th year anniversary season started even in a more disappointing way than the previous one. The Flyers lost seven games out of eight. After that, Bob Clarke decided to resign as General Manager, and head coach Ken Hitchcock was fired. Assistant GM Paul Holmgren became the new General Manager of the club.

The 2006-07 Flyers set several franchise records during the first months of the season. They included the worst record a season start and the longest home losing streak (6 games). A franchise worst ten-game losing streak finally ended with a victory over Tampa Bay Lightning on December 28, 2006.

2007 started with several transactions for the Philadelphia Flyers. On January 2, 2007, Petr Nedved was claimed on waivers by the Oilers. Two days later, the team reassigned Scott Munroe to the Phantoms. On January 9, Jussi Timonen was recalled from the Phantoms. A few days after, the Flyers reassigned Eric Meloche and Stefan Ruzicka. The same day, they claimed Michael Leighton on waivers from Nashville. On January 16, the club recalled Nate Guenin from the Phantoms.
