Stamkos Ready to Lead 2013 Lightning in Jan. 19th Opener

The NHL lockout is a thing of the past, and 2013 Tampa Bay Lightning schedule is certainly going to please the fans. It all kicks off on Saturday, January 19th at 7:00 PM, when Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals come out to the Tampa Bay Times Forum in what will pair two of the league’s most feared goal scorers against each other. Many expect these squads to battle for the Southeast Division title this season, and Lightning standout Steven Stamkos is looking to build on another outstanding season in which he tallied 60 goals and 37 assists in 82 games. The two-time defending Rocket Richard Trophy winner is certainly the future of the Lightning franchise, but 37-year-old Martin St. Louis certainly isn’t slowing down, as he put up 25 goals last year and tallied 49 assists as well. With these two as the leaders, no one would be surprised to see the Lightning hoist the Cup this year.

First, they’ll have to show what they’ve got in this 48-game season, and they will have plenty of opportunities against excellent teams. The squad will take on the Philadelphia Flyers on January 27th; and then travel north to take on a gauntlet composed of the New Jersey Devils on Feb. 7th;the Boston Bruins on Feb. 9th; the New York Rangers on Feb. 10; and then coming back home to face the Montreal Canadiens on Feb. 12th. It’s looking to be another incredible season for Lightning Hockey, so claim your Tampa Bay Lightning tickets today and be there to see if Stamkos and Co. can finish the job and bring Stanley Cup glory to the Sunshine State.
