Feb 2007 Update - Colorado Avalanche

At the 2006 trade deadline, GM Pierre Lacroix made a questionable move having traded Avalanche’s goalie David Aebischer, who had recovered from some difficulties to reassert himself as the starter. He was sent to the Montreal Canadiens. Avalanche fans and hockey analysts questioned the trade, while some wondered if Pierre Lacroix attempted the same kind of trade he made 11 years earlier, when he acquired Roy.

The Colorado Avalanche finished the previous season at the second position in their division with 43 wins, 30 losses, and 9 overtime losses. They managed to win in conference quarterfinals against the Dallas Stars with 4-1. However, they lost in conference semifinals to the Mighty Ducks.
