Nevertheless, many team’s fans speculated that the best Christmas gift that the Blues’ management could give fans was Mike Kitchen’s (head coach’s) firing in the hopes that a new coach could improve the results. In December 2006, the St. Louis Blues announced that Mike Kitchen was fired and replaced by Andy Murray. However, the team still continued a long losing streak in December.
