Tiger Woods has captured the Arnold Palmer Invitational title a record seven times, including at last year’s event, and now the 14-time major championship winner has announced that he’ll be returning to Orlando, Fla., to defend his crown. The action at the 2013 Arnold Palmer Invitational is set to take place from March 18-24 at Bay Hill Club & Lodge, and once again, it will feature the top players on the PGA Tour’s Official Money List. So far, some of the players who have also announced their participation in this year’s event include Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, and Lee Westwood.
If there is any course that Woods feels comfortable at, it’s Bay Hill, as back in 2012, Woods secured a five-stroke victory over Graeme McDowell by shooting a 2-under-par on the Championship Course. The win snapped a three-year PGA Tour drought, and if he can win again this year, it won’t be the first time that he’s won the event in consecutive years. Woods dominated the tournament with victories from 2000-03, as well as back-to-back wins in ‘08 and '09. A victory this year for Woods also would tie Sam Snead’s record of eight PGA Tour wins at a single course (Sedgefield in Greensboro, N.C.). Arnold Palmer Invitational tickets are on sale for the full week and individual days, so purchase yours now and see if Woods can make history at Bay Hill.
