Kentucky Derby 2015 Set for May 2 at Churchill Downs
Make the trip to historic Churchill Downs in Louisville on May 2 for the 2015 edition of the always highly anticipated Kentucky Derby, which will mark the 141st running of “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.” With the big day just a few weeks away, top horses in the points standings include International Star, Dortmund, Carpe Diem, American Pharoah, and Frosted. A top-20 placement is needed to earn entry into the Kentucky Derby.
Recent “Run for the Roses” winners include California Chrome (2014), Orb (2013), I’ll Have Another (2012), and Animal Kingdom (2011). The sport has been notably absent of a Triple Crown winner since 1978, but last year’s California Chrome did make things exciting with wins in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, as did 2012’s I’ll Have Another. In addition to the main event on May 2, be sure to check out other live entertainment available throughout the weekend in Louisville including the Kentucky Oaks on May 1 followed by the Barnstable Brown Gala later in the day.
