The 2014 FIFA World Cup is taking place in Brazil, and if the U.S. Men’s National Team plays up to its standards in the next six months, USA Soccer will have the chance to make a splash during the world’s most viewed sporting event. Coming off a scoreless draw against Mexico, which was a notable achievement considering that it took place amid the infamously difficult atmosphere of Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca, Team USA is looking to continue its positive momentum to earn a 2014 bid. But before the squad jumps back into 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification matches, the USMNT will try to sharpen its skills with two international friendlies on home soil. The first match will come against Belgium at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio (May 29), before the team heads east for a measuring stick game against European powerhouse Germany at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. (June 2).
Fans can purchase USA Soccer tickets to see the team when it returns to World Cup qualifying play against Panama at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash. (June 11), as well as a match against Honduras at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah (June 18). From there, US Soccer will attempt to win its fifth CONCACAF Gold Cup when the group stage matches begin against Belize at JELD-WEN Field in Portland, Ore. (July 9), followed by games against Cuba back at Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah (July 13), and Costa Rica at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. (July 16). The final leg of World Cup qualification play will come against Jamaica at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Mo. (Oct. 11). Anyone looking to see the squad outside of the U.S. can check out matches in Jamaica (June 7), Costa Rica (Sept. 6), and Panama (Oct 15).
