The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome is a sports complex located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is home to the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Golden Golphers and Strikers. The stadium was opened on April 3rd, 1982. The Metrodome has hosted some important games and tournaments which include the 1985 MLB All-Star Game, Super Bowls in 1992 and 1987 and the 1991 World Series. The seating capacity of this stadium varies with the sport being hosted and ranges from 46,000 up to 64,000.
It cost $68 million to build the Metrodome. The stadium has seen three kinds of surface changes; Super Turf, Astro Turf and Field Turf (which is currently still being used) . The roof of the Metrodome is made of Teflon coated fiberglass fabric which is the largest application of Teflon on Earth. The stadium also has an extension in the right field of dimensions 16-foot (4.9 m) high popularly known as 'Baggie'. In addition to the Metrodome hosting several sporting events, it also holds concerts.
