Comedian Carlos Mencia

Carlos Mencia, was born on the 22nd day of October in 1967. Known in real life as Ned Arnel Mencia, he hails from San Pedro Sula in Honduras and was second to the youngest sibling of all the 18 children born into the Mencia family.

Carlos actually majored in electrical engineering while he was attending college in the California State University. It was during his college years when he started to get into the comedy act. He performed at an open mic night held at the Laugh Factory which is a well-known comedy venue in LA.

That performance was what drove Carlos Mencia to fame, the act which gave him his ticket entrance onto entertainment. Three minutes into his stint, he suddenly announced that he’s out of material and went off to walk out of the stage. For their part, the management and the audience still appreciated this since they all thought that it wasn’t a joke and that it’s still a part of his act. However, it was definitely not. From then on, Carlos began to see doing comedy as his ticket to fame so he left school and started to make a name by doing comedy in LA.

His first break happened through the Latino comedy show, “Loco Slam”. It was produced by HBO and Carlos Mencia was given ticket to host it back in 1994..

As years passed, Carlos also started to branch out into other segments of entertainment. By 2000, acting became an interest for him. Popular TV shows such as “Moesha” as well as “The Shield” was his ticket to fame on TV as he was awarded for his roles there.

Later on during 2004, he signed up with Comedy Central. He was given a contract to do “The Mind of Mencia” under their network. It ran for half an hour and was in the same ticket as “The Chappell Show”—a mixture of both sketch and stand-up comedy. As its second season came, “The Mind of Mencia” became the highest rating show on Comedy Central.

Carlos Mencia first wowed movie-goers with his wonderful talent through these film tickets—“29 Palms” and “Outta Time”. He also worked alongside Ben Stiller in “The Heartbreak Kid” which was a ticket for release back in 2007 under Dreamworks.

The guy has always been gifted with insightful perception and perfect punchline delivery. These are the unique combination of comedy which Carlos Mencia used as his ticket to the world of comedy.
