George Lopez Background Information

George Lopez was born in the San Fernando Valley of California in 1961. After his parents abandoned him when he was ten years old, he was raised by his grandmother. He used his what would be traumatic childhood to fill his comedic routine with memories of growing up in the Mexican-American community. Five albums of recorded stand up shows have been created by George Lopez: Alien Nation (1996), Right Now Right Now (2001), Team Leader (2002), El Mas Chingon (2006), and America’s Mexican (2007). He received a Grammy nomination in 2004 for Team Leader. He was part of The Latin Kings of Comedy. His debut comedy special was on Showtime titled George Lopez Why You Crying? He had another special on HBO titled America’s Mexican that premiered live in 2007. He had his own television show, The George Lopez Show, which ran from 2002-2007. He has also appeared in numerous movies and guest starred on other television shows. Currently he tours the United States performing his stand up routine. He has become one of the most influential Mexican-Americans today.
