Ray's Career
Ray Romano was born in Queens, New York and graduated high school with Fran Drescher (appearing later on in her show as an “old-classmate”). He attended Queens College majoring in accounting before he quit to break into show business. He was a contestant on
Star Search for comedy. He did a bunch of small gigs for Comedy Central including playing a recurring guest voice on
Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. He became the star of his own show,
Everybody Loves Raymond, based on his stand-up comedy acts.
more In 2001, he was named by E! as one of the top twenty entertainers of the year. He has starred in and appeared in numerous films with the most recent one being the
Hannah Montana movie (2008). He has one coming out in 2009 titled,
Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs where he plays the voice of Manny. He has appeared in various television shows including
The King of Queens,
The Nanny, and
The Cosby Show. He has written another show set to be aired on TNT sometime in 2008 titled,
Men of a Certain Age.
