Country singer and songwriter Billy Currington released his self-titled debut album in 2003. The first single of the record is entitled "Walk A Little Straighter." The song narrates about his relationship with his alcoholic step-father. The chorus of the composition was written by Currington himself, when he was only twelve. The single went on to peak at no. eight that year on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. "Walk A Little Straighter" established Billy Currington as a major country performer in his native Nashville. The singer’s first hit the Top Five on the country charts with his 2nd single, entitled "I Got a Feelin'", also from his debut studio album.
Billy Currington scored a 3rd consecutive Top Ten hit together with Shania Twain in 2004, on the composition "Party for Two". The hit song was from Twain’s Greatest Hits album.
Two years ago, the performer released a 2nd album titled Doin' Somethin' Right. It peaked at no. Two on the Top Country Albums chart and no. eleven on the Billboard 200. Currington organized the CD release party for Doin' Somethin' Right at the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity house in Nashville. The album produced his first No. One single titled "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right". The follow-up "Why, Why, Why", however, landed just shy of the Top Ten. "Good Directions", the 3rd single, has become singer’s 2nd No. One single as of May 2007.
Currently, the performer is putting finishing touches on his new album for Mercury Records. The first single of the record, called "Tangled Up", is a rocking number and a departure from his previous efforts.
Unfortunately, in July 19, 2007, Billy Currington announced that he had to cancel the rest of his 2007 tour dates because of a throat ailment illness he was suffering from.
