Boney James Brief History and Background Information
James "Boney James" Oppenheim is a well-known saxophonist, who made urban jazz popular. Apart from being a two-time Grammy nominee, Boney James is a Soul Train Award winner. He has managed to accumulate three Gold records. His tenth and the latest album called Shine, debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts, and no. 6 on the R+B chart.
Urban Jazz icon Boney James is also known for several remakes of classic soul songs that he made, including Chaka Khan's "Sweet Thing," Stevie Wonder's "Creepin'", and Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine". Mr. James worked together with trumpeter Rick Braun on the album called Shake it Up. Their most famous work is "Grazin' in the Grass". "Shine" collaborations include George Benson, Dwele, Faith Evans, and Philip Bailey.
