American pop singer Brenda Lee was immensely popular during the ‘50s and ‘60s. During the sixties, the performer had more charted hits than any other female singers, and only 3 male singers/bands (Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles) outpaced her. Brenda Lee was one of the earliest pop stars who had a major contemporary following worldwide.
Brenda Lee has sold over a hundred million records all over the globe, thus becoming the first female performer in the history of recording music industry to enter the hallowed halls of both the Country Music and Rock & Roll Halls of Fame. The great singer has found another new avenue of success for her remarkable voice: this time she has chosen Gospel music.
The talented singer was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame ten years ago and to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Her autobiography, entitled Little Miss Dynamite: The Life and Times of Brenda Lee, was published in 2003.
Brenda Lee maintains a great army of fans, and adds scores of hundreds of new fans every year. They encompass a generation of "baby boomers" that grew up with Rock’n’Roll. They also include her parents generation charmed with the singer as a child singer and watched the star grow up in front of their eyes. And probably, the biggest surprise of all are the young fans that populate her performers and comb classic record bins to find the singer’s older songs.
In February 2007, the performer made an announcement that she would release a new gospel record that is entitled "Gospel Duets with Treasured Friends". The album will include several guest singers like Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, Huey Lewis, Alison Krauss, Pam Tillis, George Jones, Charlie Daniels, and others. It will be Brenda Lee's first album of gospel music.
