Cobra Starship was created by Midtown bassist Gabe Saporta as an alternative rock band. The name of this band originates from "two jackets that Gabe owned". Cobra Starship was formed in 2005 and came together in New York City, with four other members joining Saporta- Nate Novarro, Elisa Schwartz, Alex Suarez and Ryland Blackinton. Cobra Starship toured with Permanent Me, Boys Like Girls, Fall Out Boy, Quietdrive and many others. At Reading Festival in 2007, Cobra Starship also played the Carling tent.
For the reality show The Girls Next Door, Cobra Starship covered Lionel Richie's "Three Times a Lady". Moreover, the band introduced a new song for the TMNT film soundtrack, "Awww Dip" which was released on March 20, 2007. For T.G.I. Friday's advertisement, the band used the instrumental "The Church of Hot Addiction". Some of the astounding tracks by the band are Snakes on a Plane, The Church of Hot Addiction in 2006 and I'll See You In Hell (Hey Mister DJ), Send My Love To The Dancefloor, Guilty Pleasure and The City Is at War in 2007. Snakes on a Plane featured Saporta performing alongside Maja Ivarsson, Travis McCoy and William Beckett. In July, 2006 its video hit the MTV airwaves.
In the early 2007 Victoria Asher joined the band, while Schwartz parted ways with the group. Cobra Starship seems to have their hands full with new ventures like Sherwood, Armor for Sleep and The Rocket Summer on the Sleeping in October with Giants Tour. Also, their first headlining club tour entitled "The Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour" is scheduled for the spring of 2008.
