About Common
Common grew up in Chicago working for the Chicago Bulls in his teens and rapping on the side. His first rap group C.D.R. opened for notable acts N.W.A. and Big Daddy Kane. When he graduated high school he went down to Florida A&M University to major in business administration. The Source magazine featured Common in the “Unsigned Hype” column and it was then that Common dropped out to pursue a musical career. In 1992 he released the album,
Can I Borrow A Dollar?, which gathered him a significant underground following.
