Freddy Cole Background Summary

American musician Freddy Cole is the younger brother of the well-known Nat King Cole and is the father of Lionel Cole. The boy began with piano at the age of six years old and released his first single in 1952. Freddy Cole went on to work with Grover Washington, Jr. and has had jingles played on Turner Classic Movies. Freddy Cole moved to NY in 1951, where he was studying at the Juilliard School of Music. He was profoundly influenced by Oscar Peterson, John Lewis, and Teddy Wilson. It was in New York that Freddy Cole laid the groundwork for his career and that still continues to flourish.  more
