Gloria Estefan was born on 1st September, 1957 at Havana in Cuba. Her father was a bodyguard of the wife of earlier Cuban president known as Fulgencio Batista. Her mother ran school for the kindergarten students in 1950s and now she is staying in Miami. Gloria Estefan has been referred to as the Queen of Latin Pop, with the sale record of nearly 90 millions albums worldwide. She emerged as one of the prime stars during mid 80s.
Gloria Estefan initial hits were based more on the native Cuba rhythm and later on her interest shifted to more of a ballad-oriented.
Gloria's top selling album, Cuts Both Ways came out in late 1989. Within the 1st month, this album went platinum in U.S. Even in UK, the album was debuted as number 1. Gloria Estefan was tenderly involved in the year 1976 with the band leader of Miami's Sound Machine, Emilio Estefan. Son Nayib and daughter Emily Marie were soon born to them soon after their marriage. At a Cuban wedding, Gloria made her foremost musical performance in public at large when asked by her would-be husband.
Apart from the world of glamour and entertainment, Gloria Estefan along with the husband, Emilio Estefan own number of restaurants which are Cuban-theme based. These are situated in Miami Beach, Downtown Miami, Miami, Mexico City and many others. Also, two hotels are owned by them among which one was ruined by Jeanne and Hurricanes Frances. Moreover, Gloria Estefan has been awarded many a times.
