Using the formula of a cover song for a single, introspective and soft singing albums, and a rigorous touring schedule James Taylor was one of the biggest names in the seventies. With an occasional duet with his wife Carly Simon, James Taylor released an album almost every year. By the end of the decade, he did not even need a successful radio single for a platinum album as proven with the album Flag.
In the eighties, James Taylor slowed down with recording, but stepped up in touring. Through the eighties and nineties, James Taylor rarely put out an album, never had a successful single, but still sold almost as many records as concert tickets as he continued to constantly tour the world as he does today.
