Well-known Grammy nominated country music singer Martina McBride was born on July 29, 1966 in Sharon, Kansas. The girl discovered country music through her father, who was the leader of a local music group called The Schifters. The group rehearsed every week in their house. At the age of 7, the girl and her little brother Marty, who was two years younger, joined the group. Several years later, she was already singing and playing keyboards with the band performing small gigs at weddings, dances, and American Legion posts. Her mother was running the soundboard and her father was leading The Schifters, playing guitar and singing. Martina’s brother was playing guitar and steel. The girl played with the group every Saturday night until she finished high school. After graduating from school, Martina gigged around Kansas with several other bands.

McBride released her debut album in 1992. It was entitled The Time Has Come. "My Baby Loves Me" became her first big hit. It was the single from her second album, which sounds more pop-oriented. It was released in 1993 (The Way That I Am). The singer became more visible in 1994, when she sang anti-domestic violence anthem "Independence Day", which turned out to be very successful.

In 2005, Martina McBride released an 18-track record of classic country music standards, entitled "Timeless". Right away, it landed at no. 1 on the Billboard Country Album Chart. It also received much critical acclaim.

Martina McBride has won four time in the category Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year. She is also a three-time Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year winner as well as a Grammy Award nominee. In 2004, the singer performed The Star-Spangled Banner at Game 3 of the World Series.

In 2005, the performer gained additional visibility during the show American Idol, when eventual winner Carrie Underwood called McBride her favorite singer, performing several of her popular songs during the competition and putting the well-known "Independence Day" hit on her first single.

In 2006, Martina McBride was as a guest coach on the show Canadian Idol. On its finale of September 17, the performer announced that the season winner, who turned out to be Eva Avila, would be invited to join her during her tour across Canada in the spring of 2007.

Martina’s 9th studio album, entitled "Waking Up Laughing," was released on April 3, 2007. The CD is led by the wonderful single "Anyway." The release was solo-produced and co-written by Martina. In fact, it was a first one for the singer, as previously she did not write her own songs. The performer will be hitting the road for her Martina McBride 2007 Tour. It starts in April and is scheduled to play nearly forty dates through July 2007. Special guests, including Rodney Atkins and Little Big Town will join Martina McBride on her tour.
