The real Hannah Montana is Miley Cyrus, daughter of country singer Billy Ra Cyrus (“Achy Breaky Heart”). She was born in Nashville under the name ‘Destiny Hope” but gained her nickname because she kept smiling when she was younger thus “Smiley” turned into Miley. When she was nine and briefly living in Toronto with the family, she was a guest star on her father’s television series Doc in which she played a girl named Kylie. In 2003 she played “Young Ruthie” in Tim Burton’s Big Fish. When she was 12 she auditioned for Disney for the lead role of Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana but Disney thought she was too small. Her persistence finally got her the role. Cyrus played Montana on the television show and performs in concert in character as Hannah Montana as well as releasing albums under that name. With Miley Cyrus playing a girl named Miley who is a regular teenage girl by day and pop star by night, her real life has turned into the show (especially since her real father, Billy Ray Cyrus plays her dad on the show as well). She is currently working on Hannah Montana: The Movie and it is scheduled for a May 2009 release.
