The sixth annual Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival unleashed its official 2013 lineup into the blogosphere on April 16, confirming several long-rumored appearances, while surprising fans with others. Whispers about major headliners that were leaked earlier in the month have now been marked official, including ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, who has been frenziedly adding stops to his “Out There” Tour since it was announced in early March. The San Francisco festival will also welcome headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, and Phoenix for the Aug. 9-11 gathering. An eclectic mix of over 60 artists has been confirmed alongside these main acts, including festival veterans Vampire Weekend, The National, Willie Nelson, Hall and Oates, Grizzly Bear, Matt and Kim, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who recently wowed audiences with a gospel choir-backed set at Coachella 2013.
Though this three-day Outside Lands schedule features an arsenal of massive names that could fill the grounds on talent alone, the event also draws in festivalgoers for its dedicated efforts to educate attendees on green living. In 2013, the event will feature local produce from a farmer’s market, urban gardening workshops, bike valets, and an ocean beach cleanup on the western edge of Golden Gate Park. In traditional festival fashion, the Outside Lands will also play host to over 60 local restaurants and food trucks, selling every imaginable specialty, from vegan nachos to lamb poutine. The Outside Lands Festival is also known for its selection of beer and wine, boasting several vineyards representing the famous Napa Valley region. Enjoy all the distinctive amenities with single-day or full weekend Outside Lands tickets on sale in the marketplace.
