Slipknot : A Brief History

Slipknot is an American band from Iowa. The members of the band are: Joey Jordison, Sid Wilson, Paul Gray, Jim Root, Chris Fehn, Shawn Crahan, Craig Jones, Corey Taylor and Mick Thomson. The vocal styles of the band are diverse. There are melodic singing, growled vocals, and rap in the songs. The lyrics are aggressive. There are elements of hip hop, blues, thrash metal and death metal in the music of the band.

Slipknot came into existence in 1995. They released their debut album in 1999. It was titled "Slipknot". Their other two albums “Iowa” and “Vol.3 (The subliminal verses)” have also been released. Their fourth album is slated for release in 2008. The band has been nominated for 6 Grammy awards. The tracks they were nominated for are: "wait and bleed", "my plague", "left behind", "duality", and "vermilion". "Before I forget" gave them the Grammy. The first live album of the band was "9.0: live". The songs have been recorded from shows across the globe in Tokyo, Las Vegas, Osaka, phoenix and Singapore. This album was released in the year 2005. It ranked #17.

The track "Before i forget" which brought a Grammy for the team is from this album. The band has also released videos and DVDs. These are: "Voliminal: Inside the nine", "Disasterpieces", and “Welcome to our neighborhood". The band has started recording for their fourth music album which is slated to be released in 2008. There are plans to make it the heaviest album of theirs.
