Always ready to keep things fresh and intriguing, indie rock sensations Vampire Weekend announced their much-awaiting return to action this week, and the news dropped in thrilling fashion. It all starting with quite a cryptic twitter post alerting fans to check out the “Notices & Lost And Found” Section in newspapers. Then came a succinct post in the New York Times that detailed the title an release date of their third studio album. The triumphant message announced that the band's third effort, “Modern Vampires of the City,” is set to hit stores on May 7th in the United States. And to the delight of fans around the world, the band will also set off on a 2013 tour that will see them hit up prime locations in North America and Europe throughout the spring.
The 2013 Vampire Weekend tour is set to kick off in grand fashion at SXSW in Austin, Texas, from March 13-16th, and then they’ll take up a coveted slot in the 2013 Coachella Music Festival. From there, they're make a breif trip to Europe to play in London and Paris, and then they’re set to return on May 15th at the Agganis Arena in Boston, MA. The American stint will see them play at venues like The Fillmore in Detroit, MI, on May 17th, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre, with special guests, Of Monsters & Men, in Denver, CO on May 20th. The final show will be at Keller Auditorium in Portland, OR, on May 23rd.
